Mount Olivet Foundation’s Loan and Grant Programs

Mount Olivet Foundation

Deadline:  Please check website for deadlines

The Foundation’s resources are limited at this time, thereby limiting the number and amounts of the monetary awards. The number and amounts of the monetary awards are generally based upon and limited by the amount of investment income earned. Grants are made to college undergraduate and graduate students. Preference is given to students already enrolled in a degree program. Less frequently, we provide grants to professionals for continuing education courses in their chosen field. Grants are usually in the $500 to $1,500 range. Grants are awarded based primarily upon financial need, but also upon merit. Once a grant has been awarded, we cannot consider a second grant application until at least twelve months have elapsed. For both grants and loans, preference is given to individuals connected to Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, to the United Methodist Church, to individuals from Arlington, Northern Virginia, or the Washington DC Metropolitan area. Should there be sufficient funds, worthy applicants from outside the Washington metropolitan area can then be considered. The Grant and Loan Committee meets in mid-January, mid-April, mid-July, and mid-October to review applications. The summer quarter is the most competitive. Grants and loans are acted upon in the months of January, April, July and October. Applications should be received no later than the 15th of the month preceding the month they are to be considered.
