Rockefeller Archive Center Grant-in-Aid Program

Rockefeller Archive Center Grant-in-Aid Program

Deadline: November 1st

The Rockefeller Archive Center’s competitive grant-in-aid program provides awards of up to $4000 for reimbursement of receipted expenses for travel and accommodation in conjunction with research conducted at the RAC. The research grants are designed to foster, promote, and support research by serious scholars in the collections located at the Rockefeller Archive Center, which include the records of the Rockefeller Family, The Rockefeller University, The Rockefeller Foundation, and other philanthropies and associated individuals.

An independent committee reviews each application based on the applicant’s research topic and the availability of relevant material in the RAC’s collections. Awards are made to individuals. Institutions are not eligible to apply. The grant does not support research at other institutions, and it does not provide general tuition support. Application to the grant-in-aid program is open to U.S. citizens and citizens of foreign countries. Certain U.S. Government requirements will apply to non-U.S. citizens.

The deadline for applications is now November 1st each year, and awards will be announced at the end of the following February. Grant recipients must commence their research at the Center after April 1 of their award year, and they must complete their research by March 31 of the following year. Grant recipients are requested to submit a short report on their research at the Center. Edited versions of, or excerpts from these reports, may be used in the Center’s publications and on its website. Recipients also are asked to provide the Center with a copy of any publication resulting from research conducted as a result of the grant. Reimbursement of expenses will be following the receipt of original travel and accommodation receipts following the completion of the grant recipient’s research visit.

We require potential grant applicants to contact the Archive Center’s staff by email or by fax at 914-631-6017 no later than November 1st with a description of the research project for which they seek support. Such descriptions should describe the project briefly and include the names of any individuals and institutions that are central to the story, and the years covered by the study. This will help our staff respond with a description of any relevant material in the collections located here, which in turn helps applicants complete the application form and estimate the duration of their proposed research trip.

Hector E. Lopez Scholarship Fund

Hector E. Lopez Scholarship Fund

Deadline: March 1

A scholarship program to nurture, support and educate Latinas and Latinos in the prophetic and liberating theology of the United Church of Christ.
The United Church of Christ (UCC) has been a prophetic and pioneer Christian voice in America, since the founding of this nation. It is our vision that the message of Jesus was that of an extravagant welcome, in which all people are honored in love and justice.

The López Scholarship is intended to prepare Latinas and Latinos as future ministers, educated in the socially and theologically progressive seminaries of the UCC, who will return to lead vital congregations, minister to Latino constituencies, multicultural communities and the whole church, equipped to proclaim the liberating Gospel message of salvation, full-inclusion, justice and peace. This new scholarship is named in honor of The Reverend Dr. Héctor Edmundo López, a laborer in the journey for racial justice. Dr. López is the first Latino ordained in the UCC and the first Latino UCC Conference Minister.

The Tulare County Lutheran Scholarship Program

For Graduate & Professional Education

Deadline:May 1

The Tulare County Lutheran Scholarship Program for Graduate and Professional Education was established to benefit Lutheran students who are residents of Tulare County, California. The scholarship program is made possible through a permanently endowed fund at the Lutheran Community Foundation, established by an anonymous donor. (There is also a Tulare scholarship for Undergraduates) Through these scholarship awards, the donor wishes to endorse the optimism and success of today”s youth, and intends these scholarships to provide educational opportunities to outstanding individuals who have demonstrated their abilities and their desire to explore the unlimited possibilities available to them. The donor also shares a belief in the faith and values inherent in and promoted by colleges and universities affiliated with the Lutheran Church. It is the donor’s hope that recipients of this award similarly recognize such value, and that they, too, may one day be in a position to identify other students in need of educational scholarship assistance, also “passing it along” without carrying it as a debt to be repaid.
